I started learning my instrument when I was: Age 12
My favourite style of music is: Classical music
My favourite piece of music to listen to is: I love Beethoven’s 7th Symphony
My favourite piece of music to play is: The Bach unaccompanied cello suits, arranged for viola of course
The best performance I’ve ever been to was: It is hard to choose a favourite, but I’m going for hearing Philippe Lefebvre playing the Great Organ in Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Paris after the restoration.
He, of all the organists, just knew the acoustic of the instrument and the building.
The best performance I’ve ever given was: An amazing performance of St Matthew’s Passion by Bach in Salisbury Cathedral many years ago.
Something I really love is: Stunning sunsets, prefereably above water
Something I don’t like much is: I do not have an affinity with Carmina Burana despite its popularity
Something you might be surprised to know about me is: I lived on a converted Dutch barge for 6 years cruising the canals of France, Belgium and Holland in summer and spending winters in Paris in the Port de Paris close to the Bastille.
