Band Program
Newington Public School has both a Junior and a Senior Band. The junior band is for beginner students who are in their first year of playing their instrument. The senior band is for more advanced students who have played their instrument for at least 1 year. All students attend group tutorials with a specialised tutor during the week. Band membership is open to all children in years 3-6. Complete an enrolment form to secure your place today!
When are the rehearsals and lessons?
- Junior band rehearsal – 7.50am Tuesday morning
- Senior band rehearsal – 7.50am Wednesday morning
- Group tutorials for all instruments are held after school on Thursday
Strings Program
Newington Public School also has Junior Strings and Senior Strings. Junior Strings is for beginner students who are in their first year of playing their instrument. Senior Strings is for more advanced students who have played their instrument for at least 1 year. In addition to ensemble rehearsals, students attend private lessons with a specialised tutor during the week. Our tutorials are structured on a one on one basis between the tutor and student. Within a lesson, students can expect repertoire and technical exercises tailored to their needs and level of ability.
Strings membership is open to all children in years 1-6. Complete an enrolment form to secure your place today!

- Junior Strings rehearsal – 1.20pm to 12.50pm Thursday
- Senior Strings rehearsal – 3.10pm to 4.10pm Thursday
- Private lessons for strings are held after school on Thursday
