Music plays an essential role in nurturing the physical, emotional and mental aspects of the growing child.
Research has shown that learning a musical instrument enhances the learning process of each individual, enlivens the family home, enhances the school atmosphere and unifies the whole school community.
Attaining the tools and skills for artistic expression provides a platform to explore creativity, instill discipline, develop self-confidence, promote effective teamwork, strengthen memory power, improve patience, relieve stress and enhance communication skills. In addition, a child’s ear, hand and eye coordination is refined as they learn to sense, feel, hear and observe the correct pitch of each note which as a result helps to sharpen one’s ability to pay close attention to detail.
Band rehearsals and group music lessons at Gardeners Road Public School consists of learning a variety of orchestra/ensemble pieces that stems from many different genres and eras. This opens a broad array of music with links to rich historical significance, diverse cultures and evolving styles.
Throughout the band programme, students will be exploring different elements of music such as note reading, expression, technique, improvisation and composition just to name a few. These aspects of music go hand in hand playing a vital role in the developmental stages of a child’s journey in music education. More importantly, MUSIC IS FUN!
