Membership fees include all instrumental lessons, ensemble rehearsals and performances across 38 weeks of the school year (divided across 4 terms).
A replacement music bag, diary and music folder is provided to every student as required.
No lesson will be provided unless payment is received.
The annual fee is divided into 4 equal termly payments.
Invoices are distributed in week 10 of each term and are payable prior to the start of the following term.
Commitment and Cancellations:
The minimum enrolment period is 1 school term.
Cancellations are only accepted at the end of each school term, and must be communicated in writing via email.
There are no refunds for cancelled memberships.
Attendance and Missed Lessons
Students are expected to attend every lesson, rehearsal and performance.
In the event of an absent tutor:
If a DIM tutor is unwell and unable to teach, another approved DIM teacher may be arranged to teach the scheduled classes. There are no lesson credits available in this situation, and while we will do our best to notify you of any teacher change, this may not always be possible.
If a suitable DIM teacher is not available for a scheduled lesson, the lesson will be cancelled and:
Private Lessons: a credit of $42.50 will be placed on your account.
Group lessons/rehearsals will be made up at a suitable time (upon approval by the school).
In the event of an absent student:
There are no lesson credits, refunds or make up lessons offered for lessons missed due to student absence
Instruments & Equipment:
All students should have a good quality, well maintained instrument for lessons, rehearsals and also for home practise.
All students should bring their instrument, music bag, books, a pencil and any other required equipment to their lessons and rehearsals.
All students are expected to attend all scheduled rehearsals, tutorials and performances punctually.
All students should allocate a reasonable amount of time each week for home practise on their instrument.
All students are expected to behave appropriately during all scheduled lessons, rehearsals and tutorial sessions, and demonstrate the DIM Student Values in their actions.
Directions In Music teachers are responsible for their students during scheduled lesson, rehearsal and tutorial sessions only. We do not take responsibility for students outside of these times.
Please notify the DIM office if your child has any special needs that may require addressing in relation to their lessons
Photography and Recording
Occasionally we will use group photos or videos from concerts or other events on our social media and other advertising.
We will always seek specific permission from parents if we are hoping to use photos of an individual student.
Please let us know if you do not want your child photographed or videoed.
Couriers & Deliveries
Directions in Music staff do not deliver or collect books, instruments or accessories to/from school or home addresses.
Where delivery or pick up is required, a courier or postage fee is payable.
Covid Safe Compliance
All DIM students must provide:
individual hand sanitiser
The above items are to be kept in the student’s DIM music bag and brought to every lesson/rehearsal
All music stands and chairs are to be wiped down by the user before/after each lesson/rehearsal
Hand sanitiser must be used before/after each lesson/rehearsal
Individual Instrument Requirements:
must provide their own dropcloth to be used during every lesson/rehearsal
in an ensemble where a keyboard is shared, each student will be allocated either the treble or bass, and will not share keys
must provide their own drumsticks to be used during every lesson/rehearsal
must provide their own seat cloth to be used during every lesson/rehearsal
Auxiliary percussion instruments are to be wiped down by the user after each use
In the event of a temporary school closure (due to covid):
All DIM rehearsals and lessons will be pivoted online via zoom (no timetable/schedule changes)
Online lesson details will be communicated directly to parents
