Terms & Conditions of Membership

Health & Safety:

The health and safety of all DIM students and tutors is one of our highest priorities. In addition to any government requirements, we will always adhere to all specific requirements of each individual school with regards to keeping everyone safe.

1. Membership Fees
   1. Inclusions:
      1. Termly membership fees include all applicable instrumental lessons and ensemble rehearsals across a minimum of 32 weeks of the school year.
      2. Where applicable, school resource/room rental levies are included in termly invoices.
      3. A replacement music bag and folder is provided to every student as required.
   2. Payment:
      1. Invoices are generated termly and payment is required prior to the start of each term.
      2. No lesson will be provided unless payment is received.
   3. Commitment and Cancellations:
      1. All students are expected to commit to their school’s program for a minimum of 1 year.
      2. Enrolments will be automatically rolled over to the next school term, unless written notice of cancellation has been provided.
      3. Cancellation requests are only accepted at the end of a school term, and must be communicated to the DIM office via email.
      4. Termly ensemble and band fees are invoiced at a flat rate, and there are no discounts/reductions for late enrolments (with the exception of private lesson fees).
      5. There are no credits or refunds for paused memberships, unless by prior approval of the directors (medical certificate may be required).
      6. There are no refunds for cancelled memberships
2. Attendance and Missed Lessons
   1. Attendance:
      1. All students are expected to attend all scheduled rehearsals, tutorials, and performances
   2. Absent Tutors:
      1. If a DIM tutor is unable to teach, another approved DIM teacher may be arranged to teach the scheduled class. There are no lesson credits available in this situation, and while we will do our best to notify you of any teacher change, this may not always be possible.
      2. If a suitable DIM teacher is not available for a scheduled lesson, the lesson will be cancelled and:
         1. Private lessons: a credit of $55.00 will be placed on your account
         2. Groups lessons/rehearsals: may be made up at a suitable time (upon approval by the school)
   3. Absent Students:
      1. There are no lesson credits, refunds or make up lessons offered for lessons missed due to student absence
   4. Missed Sessions:
      1. DIM may replace a scheduled rehearsal or lesson time with an additional performance, workshop, or extended session as required
3. Expectations
   1. Participation:
      1. All DIM students are required to participate in their school’s relevant ensemble
      2. Group Lessons - where group lessons are in place at school, it is required that all students attend these lessons in addition to their ensemble rehearsal
   2. Instruments & Equipment:
      1. All students should have a good quality, well maintained instrument for lessons, rehearsals and also for home practise.
      2. All students should bring their instrument, music bag, books, a pencil and any other required equipment to their lessons and rehearsals
   3. Home Practise:
      1. All students should allocate a reasonable amount of time each week for home practise on their instrument. 10-15 minutes, 3-4 times per week is the suggested time allocation for beginner students
   4. Behaviour:
      1. All students are expected to behave appropriately during all scheduled lessons, rehearsals, and tutorial sessions, and demonstrate the DIM student values in their actions.
4. Student Welfare
   1. Directions In Music tutors are responsible for their students during scheduled lesson, rehearsal and tutorial sessions only. They do not take responsibility for students outside of these times.
   2. Please contact the DIM office if your child has any special needs that may require addressing in relation to their lessons.
5. Photography and Recording
   1. Occasionally we will use group photos or videos from concerts or other events on our social media and other advertising.
   2. We will always seek specific permission from parents if we are hoping to use photos of an individual student.
   3. Please let us know if you do not want your child photographed or videoed.
6. Couriers and Deliveries
   1. Directions in Music staff do not deliver or collect books, instruments or accessories to/from school or home addresses.
   2. Where delivery or pick up is required, a courier or postage fee is payable.
